National Quality Standards

Research has demonstrated early childhood education and care to result in better health, education and employment outcomes later in life. In response to this, the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) has established a set of National Quality Standards (the NQS) to improve the overall standard of Australian long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and out of hours school care facilities. The NQS includes:

  • The National Law and National Regulations
  • The National Quality Standards
  • An assessment and quality rating process
  • National learning framework

We have embraced the NQS child care education framework across our centres and introduced its seven key areas which focus on:

  • Educational program and practice;
  • Child’s health and safety;
  • Physical environment;
  • Staffing arrangements (including the number of staff looking after children);
  • Relationships with children;
  • Collaborative partnerships with families and communities;
  • Leadership and service management.

Our programs build quality experiences for children and reflect current thinking and early childhood evidence-based practice that supports children growing into competent learners.
